TLD's facilitators, instructors, workshop developers, and consultants are seasoned and have been certified in the TLD adult learning methodology.  Each has extensive experience working with a wide variety of companies including Fortune 500 firms, not-for-profit organizations, small and medium size companies in manufacturing, service, and medical sector.

Toni L. Duval - President

Toni L. Duval - President -

Toni Duval. is founder and president of TLD-Training and Leadership Development, which was established in 1994. TLD is a full service training and skill development consulting firm capable of creating and facilitating a wide variety of training programs including leadership and team building events, retreats, workshops and other special learning activities.

Toni has been in the training and development field for 22 years and her passion and energy underlie the value TLD delivers to its clients. She and TLD have succeeded at partnering with major corporations including ALSTOM Power, Knoxville Utilities Board, Saturn Motors, Nashville Electric Service, and the Tennessee Minority Supplier Development Council following her careers at Commonwealth Mortgage Company, State Savings Bank, John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Company, and the Travelers Insurance Company. Ms. Duval has development many unique seminars and training tools for leadership and professional development.

Toni is a contributing author to the recently released book, “Conversations on Leadership” and she also writes a business column for the Knoxville News Sentinel. Toni is a graduate of the University of Connecticut and obtained advanced learning at Radcliffe College Advanced Management Program along with numerous corporate training programs. A member of the 1999 Leadership Knoxville class, she is also on the board of directors for Knoxville’s Habitat for Humanity.

Judie Watson - SPHR, Consultant

Judie Watson - SPHR, Consultant -

Judie Watson works as a management consultant providing Human Resources services to large and small companies in the areas of performance appraisal design, performance management, legal compliance, and career development programs. With over 15 years of consulting experience, Judie is committed to helping employers achieve a high level of professionalism, productivity and morale through quality services and programs.

In addition to conducting numerous workshops of her own design and for TLD, Judie also worked as a contract instructor for TVA University facilitating TVA's Core Curriculum workshops including Individual Development Planning, Strategic Team Development, and Diversity Awareness.

Prior to starting her own business, Personnel Directions, she was the Personnel Manager at a Maas Brothers Department Store. She progressed to become that organization’s corporate Director of Personnel responsible for personnel policy and practices for all 19 stores and over 6000 employees. She ended her retail career as Vice President of Human Resources for Millers Department Stores when the company was sold in 1987.

Gail Stoddard - Consultant

Gail Stoddard - Consultant -

Gail has been designing and training management development programs, sales and sales management, and organizational change initiatives for the past 25 years.  Her expert facilitation skills make her an invaluable asset to the TLD team.  Her presentation skills are superb.  She is flexible and places her focus on the needs of the learners. Gail has been on the cutting edge of training in several industries including technology, financial services, retail and healthcare. 

As a Regional Director with a national consulting and training firm for 12 years she implemented customer service initiatives, leadership development, coaching, and team building programs. As a senior member of a national software company she worked to integrate software with people skills to elevate sales.  Her clients have included American Express, Disney World, Wachovia Bank, Parisian, Microsoft, and The Florida Aquarium.  

Other workshops include:  negotiating skills, customer services skills, call center telephone sales and service, management and supervisory skills and the DiSC instrument.

Nancy Young - Marketing Consultant

Nancy Young - Marketing Consultant -

Nancy Young began her early career handling the national press while working in Washington D.C. Working closely with Mary Futrell, the first black woman President of the NEA she was responsible for training teachers across the country how to do public relations. She left D.C. to work with Elizabeth Holtzman, the Brooklyn District Attorney. When Ms. Holtzman was elected New York City Comptroller, Nancy became her press secretary and oversaw a diverse staff of 12 with a budget of more than $1 million.

She moved from her native New York City to Knoxville to join Whittle Communications and The Edison Project. Since leaving Whittle, Nancy held marketing, public relations, and development positions at the Knoxville Zoo where among other duties she coordinated an $18 million campaign. While holding a similar position at the Knoxville Museum of Art she raised nearly $1 million annually.

In addition to collaborating with TLD to develop our new look and image, she continues to work with nonprofits such as the Knoxville Leadership Foundation, The Literacy Imperative, DiscoverET, East Tennessee Technology Center, the Oak Ridge Education Foundation, and Oak Ridge Associated Universities.  She also works with Bread Box Stores and the University of Tennessee’s Center for Executive Education.

Nancy graduated from Simmons College in Boston and has a Masters Degree from the University of Chicago in Public Policy and economics.
